Switzerland Travel Centre · Valid across the region
A regional travel pass for 3 to 10 days that covers every scheduled boat on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, the trains and buses of the Bernese Oberland and more than 25 mountain railways and cable cars. Pick it if you are based in Interlaken for a few days and want the boats to be the easy part of a bigger plan.

The Berner Oberland Pass gives free travel in 2nd class on trains and buses across the region between Bern, Lucerne, Brig and Montreux, on more than 25 mountain railways and cable cars, and on the scheduled boats of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Berner Oberland Pass lists all scheduled Lake Brienz courses as included, the paddle steamer Lötschberg among them. You choose 3 to 10 days when you book.
For a boat site, the boats are the headline: Interlaken West to Thun, Interlaken Ost to Iseltwald, Giessbach and Brienz, as often as you like on your pass days. Lake Thun runs all year; Lake Brienz from early April to early December. Passes are not valid on BLS culinary and event cruises, and no ticket guarantees a seat on board. Own-boat trips (the jetboat, the kayaks, the fondue float) are separate bookings.
A few things sit outside the pass. The top section to Jungfraujoch (from Kleine Scheidegg or Eiger Glacier) needs a connecting ticket. Grindelwald First and Harder Kulm are discounted, not free. Seat reservations on the Brienz Rothorn, the GoldenPass Express and Jungfraujoch cost extra. Children aged 6 to 15 need a child pass, selectable when you book the adult one; children under 6 travel free without one.
Choose 3 to 10 days of validity. Passes can be bought up to 180 days before you travel.
The pass arrives by email. Print it or show it on your phone; it cannot go into a mobile wallet or the SBB app.
Use the official ticket with the traveller's details and QR code, not the GetYourGuide voucher. Carry your passport or ID.
Interlaken West for Lake Thun, Interlaken Ost for Lake Brienz. No boat ticket needed on scheduled courses.
Schynige Platte, the Brienz Rothorn, the Schilthorn and the rest of the 25+ railways. Check the area map for the few with supplements.
★★★★★The pass is recommended for every visitor who spends at least three days in the Bernese Oberland. The pass allows you to use the entire, excellent local public transport system. Almost all cable cars and the boats on the lake are also included.
★★★★★This is definitely the way to go to maximize how much you see of the region. make sure you get the pass that matches your length of stay to maximize the value.
★★★★★I loved the formula. Very practical not having to use your personal vehicle, especially since there are regions inaccessible without mountain trains.
